Swedish Visual Artists Gothenburg

Alexandra Severinsson is a visual artist living and working in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Movement, repetition, displacement and perception are words that comes to mind when looking at Severinsson´s work. Her visual language oscillates freely between spontaneity and the controlled. Strict hard edge lines created by using masking tape and repeated geometrical patterns meets the more flowing and freely painted elements. Her work is created through a combination of balanced decisions and chance, where embracing failures and the unexpected leads the work forward. It´s a process driven practice where one work leads to another and so forth.

A constant in her work over time is a fascination for patterns, repetitions and structures. Inspiration comes from the urban landscape and architecture with it´s unexpected clashes of colours shapes and materials.

Alexandra Severinsson was born in 1971 in Varberg, Sweden. She holds an MA in European Fine Art from Winchester School of Art, UK. In Sweden she went to Hovedskous Målarskola in Gothenburg and she´s a member of artist organisation KRO, Konstnärscentrum and BUS.

She have made several public art commissions and her work is represented in councils and regions all over Sweden.
